Tottenham Hotspur remain interested in signing Inter Milan star Ivan Perisic this summer, according to reports in Italy.
Perisic, who played a starring role for Croatia at last summer’s World Cup, has struggled to rediscover his best form this term, scoring just five goals in 27 Serie A appearances.
However, that didn’t stop Arsenal making a move for the forward in the January transfer window.
A deal failed to materialise and reports later claimed Perisic would have preferred a move to Spurs.
And according to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport (via the Sun), Tottenham continue to monitor the 30-year-old’s situation ahead of a possible summer swoop.
Arsenal are also still keen, meaning there could be a tug of war over Perisic between the two north London clubs in the coming months.
It is believed Inter are interested in signing PSV Eindhoven youngster Steven Bergwijn, another player who has been linked with Spurs of late.
If Inter buy Bergwijn, there is a good chance they will allow Perisic to leave. The situation is worth keeping an eye on.
Reality Check!!!
30 years old, little re-sale value, on about 70 to 80K a week, having an off year, never played in the Prem.
Does that sound like a buy Daniel Levy would sanction or that Poch would want?
This just isn’t going to happen, despite an Italian source pushing it.
Douglas Costa won’t happen either because apart from being two years younger the rest is applicable.
And while we’re on a “Not gonna happen” roll, Bale won’t be back either because age, wage and injury record.
