Tottenham Hotspur are close to signing Fenerbahce starlet Eljif Elmas, according to reports in Turkey.

Elmas has made 34 appearances across all competitions so far this season, scoring one goal from central midfield.

The 19-year-old has previously been linked with a number of top European clubs including Manchester City after emerging as one of the best young players in the Turkish Super Lig.

And according to Turkish outlet SuperHaber (as relayed by Sports Mole), Elmas is closing in on a move to Spurs.

It is believed £17 million could be enough to complete a deal for the teenager, who usually sits in front of the back four – which explains his lack of goals.

Tottenham are likely to sign at least one new central midfielder this summer following Mousa Dembele’s exit in the January transfer window.

Victor Wanyama is also said to be on his way out of the club at the end of the season, so Spurs may be in the market for multiple players in that position.

Elmas sounds promising but Tottenham fans will be hoping for a more experienced signing to come in alongside him.

  1. Get on your computer Danny Rose and go to google.
Why purchase an unknown with a high risk factor when I am sure that we have as good if not better in our super under 18s squad.
Will we never learn that we must buy top players with proven records.
Looks like we will never learn.

  2. I don’t think there’s much wrong buying someone young with huge potential, and who can be
moulded by Poch and his team. It’s about good Spurs scouts recognising that potential. If we can get great deals on these transactions too so much the better. Look at Alli. Look at Eriksen. Look at how Walker, Dier and Tripps later developed into England players with us.
And yes, we must keep bringing our best youngsters through too (again look at how Kane, Winks and
    Rosie have turned out).
So I don’t agree with Delboy about that, because we’ve wasted bundles over the years buying so-called top rated players with ‘proven records’ who simply flopped with us. Rebrov, Soldado, Paulinho, Postiga, Dumitresco, Gilberto etc..
But, I do agree that we should take an expensive risk and make a marquee signing or two for next season. Definitely a top striker (particularly if this ankle weakness of Kane persists), a central midfield/playmaker, and a proper right back to replace Walker and compete with Tripps (buying Aurier was a disaster).

  3. I believe it is a balancing act between signing top potential and top talent . I agree we have done well buying top young potential but I also agree at the place we are at right now we really need to bring in at least two experienced top performers ( ideally with a winning pedigree ) to help us take the next steps forward. We will earn more money so we should be raising the bar . In area of importance, I believe we require a very good box to box midfielder, a really good attacking midfielder ( to challenge Ali and Erickson ) and a good front man that could play right across the front ( striker and winger ) . If you sell Vorm, Wanyama, Trips or Aurier , KW Peters, Jansen, Llorente, G. Nkoudou , and if Toby leaves , you can bring in 5 players right there . I may be in the minority , but I have no problem letting Lamela and Dier go as well if we can bring in upgraded replacements .
I don’t think we need to take two expensive risks, but we can purchase two expensive “sure performers ” and surround them with other good talent and a couple of potential pieces as well .

Elmas can be one of the promising along with somebody like ( R . Sessegnon, Jarrod Bowen, or Jack Grealish ) Maybe Aaron Wan -Bissaka for full back, Center Backs one of M. Keane , J. Lascelles, J. Anderson ( Midfielders two of Declan Rice, A. Doucoure, F. Kessie, T. Ndombele, A. Gnomes , Y. Tielemans , A . Rabiot , A. Diawara, M.Vecino) Attacking Midfielders One or Two of Nabil Fekir, Hakim Ziyech, Donny van Beek , G. LoCelso , Isco , Forwards One or two of Malcolm , D. Neres, A. Suso, W.Zaha, Richarlison ,L. Bailey G . Bale Strikers One of D. Origi,J. Arp, C. Under, F. Chiesa, J. King , C . Wilson

If we can bring this type of talent Elmas, J. Bowen, A Wan Bissaka, J. Anderson ,Ndombele , D. Van Beek, H. Ziyech, Malcolm , Suso and C. Wilson That’s 10 players out and 10 players in , I think we would have a terrific squad that could challenge of all fronts , week in and week out and be stronger than this years squad . If we were to sign Bale or Isco or Raiiot or Fekir ( and remove one or two ) we would be so strong . Do you think Levy and Poch would welcome this many changes and make it happen ???

  4. I think priority be given to contracts for Toby and Eriksen. Keep Dier a multi position player as is Davis. Both team players as opposed to outstanding individuals. K W Peters should be given more time in games. I would let go Aurier , Lamela,Llorenti, Vorm Nkoudou,Jansen, and possibly Wanyama if an upgrage is bought. 6 or seven foreign players out.IN Bowen,R. Sessegnon ,possibly Grealish if Villa not promoted. Also Foreign players in Skov, J Anderson to bed in ready to taken over in defence. Tielmans or Fekir. Both if we lose Eriksen or Grealish promoted. Prestige signings possibly D. Neres and Ndombele .A Wan-Bissaka would also be nice. 3or 4 uk players in with3 or 4 foreign players. That would be a good transfer market.
