Napoli are interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur defender Kieran Trippier this summer, according to reports in Italy.

Trippier has struggled to replicate his World Cup form for Spurs this season and has been linked with an exit by various publications in recent weeks.

Italian outlet Calcio Mercato claims Napoli have identified the right-back as a possible summer target.

The headline suggests “preliminary contact” has been made, although it’s unclear whether that means talks have begun between Tottenham and Napoli, or the Italian club and Trippier.

Perhaps surprisingly, the report also claims Manchester United are keeping tabs on Trippier despite his inconsistent club form.

Regardless, it looks as if the 28-year-old could be on his way out of Spurs, which would leave Mauricio Pochettino with Serge Aurier and Kyle Walker-Peters as his senior right-backs.

It wouldn’t be a huge surprise to also see Aurier leave, while Kyle Walker-Peters will surely be thinking about an exit unless he is promised more first-team minutes.

That means Tottenham are likely to target a new right-back in the coming transfer window. Who would you like it to be? Let us know in the comments section below.
