Tottenham Hotspur are ‘increasingly confident’ Christian Eriksen will sign a new long-term contract with the club, according to Goal.

Eriksen is out of contract at the end of next season and has been linked with a move to Real Madrid in recent months.

Earlier this week, we relayed a report suggesting Bayern Munich have entered the race to sign Eriksen this summer.

However, Goal is now reporting Spurs are growing more and more confident the Dane will agree terms on a new long-term deal.

It is believed Tottenham are willing to make Eriksen one of the club’s highest earners, perhaps not paying him as much as Harry Kane but almost certainly putting him on par with Dele Alli.

Qualifying for the Champions League – whether that comes from finishing in the top four or by actually winning the coveted trophy – could be the key to keeping Eriksen.

The 27-year-old will want to play in Europe’s elite competition next season, so his future could become clearer when the current campaign draws to a close.
