Crystal Palace are lining up a summer move for Aston Villa midfielder and reported Tottenham Hotspur target Jack Grealish, according to the Daily Mail.
Grealish was heavily linked with Spurs last summer and was believed to be close to a transfer before Aston Villa’s new owners pulled the plug on a deal at the last minute.
The Mail claims Tottenham are still interested in Grealish but could face competition for the 23-year-old’s signature from Crystal Palace.
The report suggests Palace could cash in on Wilfried Zaha, who they will look to sell for around £80 million in the summer transfer window.
With that money, the Eagles are expected to move for Grealish – and they could have a better chance of signing the playmaker than Spurs.
That’s because Palace will surely be able to offer Grealish guaranteed first-team football given Zaha’s exit will leave a place open in Roy Hodgson’s starting line-up.
If Grealish joined Tottenham, he would be behind other players in the pecking order, particularly if Christian Eriksen stays put.
Spurs are reported to be confident about Eriksen signing a new long-term contract, so Grealish may thing twice if the Londoners revive their interest this summer.
