Danny Rose has refused to predicted how Tottenham Hotspur’s season will end after he “fell into this trap” earlier in the campaign.

Spurs had looked like challenging Manchester City and Liverpool for the Premier League title earlier this year before a disastrous run of form brought an end to those hopes.

The Londoners are in pole position to finish third in the table and can look forward to a Champions League semi-final against Ajax next week, so there is still plenty to play for.

But when asked what Tottenham are capable of this season, Rose was cautious about predicting success.

“I fell into this trap, saying what we could achieve two months ago when we were in the mix with Liverpool and City,” Rose said (via Football 365).

“I thought we were right in there. I don’t want to fall into that trap again. I’d rather keep it in the dressing room.

“We know what we’re capable of. Every team the manager puts out he’s fully expecting to win. We’ve got to keep believing and see where it takes us.”

Rose did, however, go on to say Spurs could have one of the best seasons in the club’s history if everything comes together.

“Bar one week when we lost to Burnley, Chelsea and drew to Arsenal, I think over the course of the season we can be proud of what we’ve done,” the left-back said.

“It’s not over yet, we’re in the home stretch and we’ve got a chance to make this season one of the best Tottenham has ever had.

“We roll on to a massive game at the weekend (against West Ham) and an even bigger one against Ajax.”

Reaching a Champions League semi-final and finishing in the top four will represent a good campaign for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, particularly when the lack of spending is considered.

But Tottenham’s supporters are craving a trophy, and it would be a huge achievement if the team can somehow win the Champions League.
