Tottenham Hotspur welcome Ajax to their new stadium on Tuesday night for the first leg of the Champions League semi-finals.

Despite several injuries reducing his options, Mauricio Pochettino still has a few decisions to make regarding his team selection.

We think the Spurs boss will opt for a back three made up of former Ajax trio Toby Alderweireld, Davinson Sanchez and Jan Vertonghen in front of Hugo Lloris.

Moussa Sissoko may not be quite fit enough to start despite returning to training, while Eric Dier started against West Ham and so could find himself on the bench on Tuesday.

With that in mind, the wing-backs – Kieran Trippier and Danny Rose – will flank Christian Eriksen and Victor Wanyama in central midfield.

Pochettino has no option but to play a front three of Dele Alli, Lucas Moura and Fernando Llorente because of Son Heung-min’s suspension.

There is a possibility Tottenham will have no attackers on the bench; Vincent Janssen is ineligible after the club chose not to register the Dutchman for the knockout stages.

  1. I will sooner like to see Vincent instead of Llorente. Vincent is much quicker on the ball than Llorente although he later has a good head.

    • Vincent can’t play for Spurs in this tie because Poch did not register him in European competition as required by UEFA law. So too bad he is not available…lol
