Tottenham are interested in signing Torino star Soualiho Meite, according to reports in Italy.

The 25-year-old has been linked with Spurs in the past, but fresh reports suggest the Londoners have only just entered the race for the midfielder.

Meite has scored two goals and provided two assists in 31 Serie A appearances so far this season.

And Italian outlet La Stampa (via Football Italia) claims Tottenham are keeping tabs on the former France youth international ahead of a potentially busy summer transfer window for the club.

Meite joined Torino from Monaco for just €10 million last summer, so his current employers will probably be looking to make a hefty profit if they do decide to sell.

Spurs are likely to be monitoring a number of central midfielders, with the position thought to be one of Mauricio Pochettino’s priorities going into the summer.

Victor Wanyama and Eric Dier have been the only fit central midfielders in recent matches, although Moussa Sissoko has returned to training ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League semi-final against Ajax.
