Tottenham Hotspur remain interested in signing Monaco midfielder Youri Tielemans, according to reliable Belgian football journalist Kristof Terreur.

Tielemans is currently on loan at Leicester City and has impressed since arriving in the Premier League in the January transfer window.

Terreur claims the 21-year-old was offered to Spurs in January but ended up joining Leicester on a deal until the end of the season.

The former Anderlecht player is apparently open to joining Leicester permanently but is considering his options with Tottenham and Manchester United ‘sniffing around’.

When asked about his future, Tielemans apparently said: “We will see.”

A full Belgium international, Tielemans may be tempted to join Spurs by his teammates from the national team, Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld.

He would be an ideal replacement for Mousa Dembele, another of his countrymen who left Tottenham for China in January.

Spurs have been seriously lacking in central midfield in recent weeks, with Mauricio Pochettino somewhat reliant on the questionable fitness of Eric Dier and Victor Wanyama.

Moussa Sissoko made a timely return against Ajax, but adding Tielemans to the squad would be a huge boost next term.
