Tottenham Hotspur are likely to finish in the top four after Arsenal failed to overcome Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday.

Arsenal could have moved to within a point of Spurs in the race for Champions League qualification after Mauricio Pochettino’s side lost 1-0 at Bournemouth.

Manchester United also could have made up ground on Tottenham but the Red Devils drew 1-1 at Huddersfield Town before the Gunners recorded the same scoreline against Brighton.

It is now impossible for United to catch Spurs, while Arsenal will require an eight-goal swing next weekend when they travel Burnley.

Tottenham host Everton on the final day, and barring a disastrous pair of results the Londoners will be playing Champions League football next term.

Following Arsenal’s draw with Brighton, Jan Vertonghen tweeted: “I’ll take that.”

Chelsea did manage to leapfrog Spurs on Sunday, beating Watford 3-0 at Stamford Bridge.

But after an end to the season full of disappointments and difficult circumstances in the Premier League, Tottenham fans will be delighted to finish fourth.

The supporters responded to Vertonghen’s tweet in their droves. Check out the best replies below.
