Son Heung-min has been named Tottenham Hotspur’s Player of the Year for the 2018/19 season.
The forward enjoyed an outstanding campaign, scoring crucial goals in the Premier League and Europe as Spurs finished fourth in the table and reached the Champions League final.
Making his season even more impressive, Son spent spells away from the club on international duty with his country.
His victory with South Korea at the Asian Games earned him a both a gold medal and exemption from mandatory military service.
You’d have to go a long way to find a Tottenham fan who isn’t completely in love with Son, but that doesn’t mean everyone agrees on the Player of the Year award.
In fact, it seems the majority of Spurs supporters feel the gong went to the wrong man.
Moussa Sissoko has enjoyed a sublime upturn in fortunes this term, and many believe he should have been named the club’s Player of the Year.
Regardless, nobody will begrudge Son, who has been utterly superb considering his busy schedule.

Son without a doubt thou moussa has been solid without sons goals and energy we would not be in the champions league postion in the premiership today he has been outstanding and throughly deserves the award

Scoring goals should not be a requisite for winning. Sissoko was superb, and won us as many games as Sonny. Add to that that he started so poorly for us, and my view he is clearly our stand-out performer in a season where many have not reached their previous heights.
Alderweireld has been Spurs most consistent player, so probably deserves it more than Son and Sissoko.

I suspect that whichever player got the award, there would be others advocating for a different player .
Sonny, Moura, Aldeweireld all had good, solid seasons. I thought Eriksen had an OK season but not great.
Regardless of this we lost more games this season than we did in the previous 2 seasons combined. This is NOT the sign of a “great” team. I’ve been a Spurs supported for about 65 years, so have seen great teams.
For me its sissoko. He is the one player in our squad that we cant replace and we miss him badly when he doesn’t play. Having said that son and toby and Jan have all had a great season…..just not as good as sissoko’s who has been vital for us
I voted for Son. I shook his hand yesterday- seems like a very nice chap, took time to sign autographs (not my thing), was very gracious with the fans.
On the pitch he plays with a smile- lovey to see. He deserved the awards. Moura was close behind in my view.
We now need to build on what we have done so far – 4 years running CL and we could even win in – why not. I waited over 50 years to see us compete at the top and am loving it. Now to start winning the big prizes.
I agree about Son with you Tony. I love to see the smile on his face and he seems to me (I live in Florida, so meeting him personally unlikely to happen ).
Son’s whole attitude is positive on the field and infectious to the team, I believe. When he got the RC recently, it was a huge surprise to me that he would do that. Lerma’s behavior at that time gets no card – this to me seems totally unfair as no retrospective action was taken with Lerma based on his play.
