Gareth Bale will turn down Tottenham Hotspur if his former club approaches him this summer, according to the Mirror.

Earlier this week, we relayed a story suggesting Real Madrid have offered Spurs the chance to re-sign Bale on loan for the 2019/20 season.

That report claimed Tottenham will have to pay £250,000 a week of the Welshman’s wages as well as a £10 million fee in order to have him back at the club.

However, the Mirror believes Bale is determined to stay at the Bernabeu as he has three years left on his lucrative contract with Real Madrid.

The 29-year-old is believed to be earning £600,000, so Tottenham’s chances of signing him on a permanent basis are non-existent.

A loan now seems unlikely too, with Bale said to only be willing to leave Madrid for another top club.

Spurs have reached the Champions League final, but they are far from Europe’s elite when it comes to finances.

So if it wasn’t already obvious, there is almost no chance of Bale re-joining Tottenham any time soon.

He is simply too expensive and it looks like he is happy to stay at Real Madrid regardless of the opinion of the club’s supporters.
