Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is among the candidates for the Juventus job following Max Allegri’s departure, according to reports in Italy.

Juventus announced Allegri would step down on Friday after a winning a fifth successive league title with the club this season.

The Serie A giants were eliminated from the Champions League – a competition Allegri has failed to win at Juventus – in the quarter finals by Ajax, who subsequently lost to Spurs in the semi-finals.

The search will now begin for Allegri’s replacement, and Pochettino is inevitably being linked with the newly vacant post.

As relayed by JuveFC.com, Sky Sports Italia claims Pochettino is among the names Juventus are considering, while Gazzetta Dello Sport journalist Nicolo Schira believes the Tottenham boss is closer to taking the job than any other candidate.

France coach Didier Deschamps and Lazio’s Simone Inzaghi are also being considered by Juventus, but Pep Guardiola is no longer thought to be an option.

Pochettino has fuelled speculation about a possible exit from Spurs this summer, but the Londoners are likely to back the Argentinian in the coming transfer window in order to convince him to stay.

  1. nah. paper talk for a contract extension.
Guardiola, Conte, even the mourinho crazy rumour is more believable; all regular winners.

  2. If by his comment that Jonny thinks that Poch is angling for a contract extension then he is mistaken. Poch does not have a creep/leech (aka an agent). Only an agent would be capable of doing this. He is a much more honourable man, admittedly a rarity nowadays in football. Second look what a “winner” did at ManU!

Most teams, Juve included, have a hire-em, fire-em mentality and that builds neither respect r mutual support. Eventually it finds them out. Pep may have the money at ManC but he also has the respect. Why risk that relationship?
