Fernando Llorente is set to leave Tottenham Hotspur at the end of the current season after the club missed the deadline to extend his contract, according to the Daily Mail.
The striker has endured limited game time since joining Spurs from Swansea City in the summer of 2017.
However, he has been instrumental in this season’s progression to the Champions League final, scoring important goals against Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City, and providing a key presence up front in the second leg victory over Ajax.
Regardless of his recent impact, it looks like Llorente won’t be kept on for the 2019/20 campaign.
According to the Mail, Tottenham have now missed the deadline to extend the Spaniard’s current deal by 12 months, meaning the Champions League final will likely be his last game in a Spurs shirt.
If that’s the case, Mauricio Pochettino will surely be targeting a new back-up striker for Harry Kane this summer, and the Mail believes the Tottenham boss is looking for someone youngster than Llorente.
The 34-year-old has mostly struggled for Spurs but he will always be remembered, especially if the Londoners win in Madrid on June 1st.

So for the past couple of years we have being paying him to sit on our bench come on and do nothing. Which wasn’t just his fault as the squad just didn’t play to his strengths, but now the rest of the players have come around to understand his strengths, just when we are getting the best out of him and just when he was becoming a torture and a threat to defences we get rid of him WOW only Tottenham. I really thought he would get a 1 year extension because we can now play a total different way a more direct style with Llorente. I wish him all the best and i hope someone will see he still has another season or 2 in him and i hope its in a good footballing club the likes of Everton who like to play direct football or Wolves.
