Tottenham Hotspur have held talks with the agent of Monaco midfielder Youri Tielemans, according to Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur.
Tielemans spent the second half of the season on loan at Leicester City, where he impressed by scoring three goals and providing five assists in 13 Premier League appearances.
Spurs are among the clubs said to be interested in bringing the 22-year-old back to the Premier League after he returns to Monaco this summer.
And Terreur, who is very reliable when it comes to Belgian footballers, claims contact has been made between Tottenham and Tieleman’s agent.
However, Terreur also notes that Manchester United have been in touch with the former Anderlecht player’s representatives.
“There have been talks, the agent’s had talks with Spurs and Man United about him,” Terreur told the Sky Sports Transfer Talk podcast (via the Express).
“Not sure he’s the first choice at both clubs either. Monaco, they want to sell him and get rid of him.”
The Sun reports Manchester City are also keen on Tielemans, who is apparently valued at around £40 million by Monaco.
Tottenham’s qualification for next season’s Champions League gives them the edge over Manchester United, but City will be difficult to compete with if Pep Guardiola is genuinely interested in making a deal happen.
