Tottenham Hotspur are among the clubs interested in signing PSV Eindhoven winger Steven Bergwijn this summer, according to the Daily Mail.
Bergwijn finished the Eredivisie season with 14 goals and 12 assists in 33 appearances. He also impressed against Spurs in the Champions League group stages.
The Mail claims Spurs are leading Manchester United and Liverpool in the race to sign the 21-year-old.
However, it is believed the Londoners face competition from their Champions League semi-final opponents Ajax, who are aiming to strengthen their squad in order to win the Eredivisie again next season.
The report also backs up other stories suggesting Tottenham want to sign Leeds United starlet Jack Clarke and Real Betis midfielder Giovani Lo Celso.
It looks like it could be a busy summer for Spurs, with Mauricio Pochettino set to bring in new players for the first time since Lucas Moura’s arrival in January 2018.
Central midfield is certainly a priority, so the pursuit of Lo Celso makes a lot of sense.
Wingers are less of a concern, but it would be great to bolster the squad with young players like Bergwijn and Clarke, particularly if they can be signed relatively cheaply.
