Manchester United will decide next week whether to trigger Toby Alderweireld’s release clause, according to the Sun.
Alderweireld has one year left on his Tottenham contract that can be bought out for £25 million this summer.
The Belgian recently claimed he is only focusing on Spurs at the moment as the Londoners prepare to take on Liverpool in the Champions League final on Saturday.
But after this weekend, his attentions will turn to sorting out his future – whether that means securing a move away or deciding to stay for the final year of his deal.
Manchester United were heavily linked with a move for Alderweireld last summer.
And the Sun claims the Red Devils will make a decision next week about reviving their interest in the defender.
However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is apparently not keen to sign Alderweireld, preferring to coach and develop his current crop of centre-backs.
That said, it’s unlikely he’d say no to adding a player of Alderweireld’s quality and experience to a squad that desperately needs refreshing.
The question is: will Alderweireld want to play in the Europa League next season after Tottenham’s incredible run to the Champions League final?
