Tottenham Hotspur are to make Christian Eriksen’s contract a priority this summer, according to reports in Spain.

Eriksen, who has just one year left on his current deal, has been linked with Real Madrid, with sections of the Spanish media suggesting a transfer could be completed soon.

However, El Confidencial claims that is far from the truth following a meeting between Real Madrid president Florentino Perez and Spurs chairman Daniel Levy the night before the Champions League final.

The pair apparently attended a dinner with others when the subject of Eriksen’s future came up.

Levy is said to have told Perez that one of Tottenham’s priorities this summer is to convince Eriksen to renew his contract with the club.

As a result, Madrid are believed to be unconfident about securing a deal for the Dane before the start of next season.

Eriksen’s displays have been inconsistent during the second half of the season, but Spurs would still hugely benefit if he decided to stay in north London.

Leicester City star James Maddison has been mentioned as a potential replacement, although another Premier League club is reportedly in pole position to sign the midfielder – read more here.

  1. Why ?? Get rid of the twat. Worst player at the club since Chiriches. Overrated prick who only turns up for 5 minutes every nineteen and a half games. Cash in now.

  2. A bit harsh but agree with the fact if not the sentiment, if they could bag James Maddison that would be fantastic!

  3. Wise up boys CE is and would be 1st class in any league in Europe I life if you you know nothing try and say nothing

  4. Keep CE. He can only be as good as who is around him. Sell Kane and Alli. Will reap huge money. Are a better balanced team without them, unless Kane can play the Llorente role in a 451 system and play fast men off him. Alli is always a passenger liable to get sent off.
