Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele has confirmed his interest in joining Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Earlier this week, we relayed reports suggesting Spurs have seen an initial bid for Ndombele turned down by Lyon.

The Frenchman is believed to be among Mauricio Pochettino’s top transfer targets, and it seems he is willing to join Tottenham.

Speaking to French outlet Telefoot (via the London Evening Standard), Ndombele finally spoke out on the speculation linking him with a move to Spurs.

“Tottenham are a great team, a big club,” he said. “They finished fourth in their league and reached the Champions League final.

“They are a big club and what player would not be interested by a big club?”

Ndombele has also been linked with Manchester United, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Juventus, meaning he could have a big choice to make in the coming weeks.

The 22-year-old says he will decide his future after finishing the international season with France and taking a holiday.

He added: “I will concentrate on what I have to do on the pitch, then I’ll go on holiday, rest my head and after that I’ll try to see what I can do.”

It certainly seems like Tottenham are in a good position to sign Ndombele – both parties seem keen on a transfer.

However, interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs could turn his head, especially if those outfits can offer larger salaries, which is likely.

Spurs fans will hope the club can act fast and get a deal done before others swoop.

  1. The big problem here is that Levy will not pay the price and the player will either stay at Lyon or move to a club who come in for him early and pay the going rate.
