Tottenham Hotspur held talks with the agent of Sporting Lisbon star Bruno Fernandes this week, according to the Telegraph.
Last week we relayed reports suggesting Spurs are no longer interested in Fernandes despite a story revealing the club was close to signing the midfielder for £62 million.
The latest comes from the Telegraph, who claim Fernandes’ agent, Miguel Pinho, met with Tottenham officials on Wednesday to discuss a potential deal for his client.
It is believed Sporting have slapped a £70 million price tag on Fernandes, which is some way down from his alleged £88 million release clause – although it would still require Spurs to smash their transfer record.
Manchester United are said to still be interested in the 24-year-old, and Tottenham’s pursuit could force the Red Devils to speed up their own chase.
Spurs obviously have an advantage over United in that they can offer Fernandes Champions League football, but the Mancunians may be able to pay bigger wages than the Londoners.
Fernandes scored 32 goals across all competitions for Sporting last season and would improve the midfields of both Tottenham and United.
Don’t you think that it’s all a load of bullshit? Last week Spurs supposedly dropped interest in the player, this week we are in discussions with his agent. Earlier we were about to smash our transfer ceasing by buying Ndombele now this bull about Fernandes. By the weekend it’ll all About turn again.
