Tottenham Hotspur have held several meetings with the representatives of Sampdoria defender Joachim Andersen, according to reports in the player’s native Denmark.

Earlier this week, we relayed a story suggesting Spurs are considering a move for Andersen amid ongoing uncertainty around Toby Alderweireld’s future.

The Star, citing reports from Italy, claims Tottenham now have a free run at Andersen after Arsenal pulled out of a move for the centre-back.

And Danish outlet BT believes there has been plenty of contact between Spurs and Andersen ahead of a possible transfer this summer.

The Londoners are likely to be in need of a new centre-back if Alderweireld’s £25 million release clause is triggered.

Andersen is yet to make an appearance for the Danish national team and has not travelled to the Under-21 Euro Championships due to injury.

But the 23-year-old is expected to leave Sampdoria this summer having emerged as one of the best young defenders in Serie A.

Whether Tottenham will want to sign Andersen or a more experienced replacement for Alderweireld remains to be seen.

  1. Why not keep Toby and sign Anderson…them plus Sanchez and Verts= unbreacable defence. Hence when Toby n Verts eventually waning and over the hill…we still hv 2 ace CDs.
