According to multiple reports, Tottenham Hotspur are now close to completing a deal for Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele.
The news broke on Tuesday evening with outlets in England and France suggesting Spurs have fought off competition to bring Ndombele to north London.
Sky Sports claims Tottenham have agreed a club record fee of £65 million, while the Guardian believes the offer is currently closer to £55 million.
However, French newspaper L’Equipe purports that a fee is yet to be agreed, although Spurs are said to be close to a compromise with both Lyon and Ndombele.
L’Equipe (as relayed by GFFN) says Lyon want €65 million plus €15 million in bonuses (around £71.7m) but Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is apparently trying to bring the price down to between €70 million and €75 million (£62.75m – £67.25m).
The report goes on to reveal that personal terms between Spurs and Ndombele are 80% agreed and the transfer is likely to go through in the next 10 days.
Ndombele looks set to become Tottenham’s first new signing since Lucas Moura’s arrival from Paris Saint-Germain in January 2018.
Wonder what number he will pick?
Will not be a first eleven number, they are all taken. Most likely nr 19, Dembele’s old number.
lets hope it goes through and does not turn into another willian situation
