Tottenham youngster Troy Parrott is expected to be given the opportunity to impress Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino on the clubs pre-season tour of Asia this month.
The 17-year-old is yet to make a senior appearance for the Lilywhites, but after a string of excellent performances for both Spurs’ Under-18 and Under-23s sides, Parrott was promoted to training with Tottenham’s first-team, and has been since Christmas.
And according to the Irish Independent, the Argentine has decided against sending the teenage striker to the European Under-19 Championships that start in Armenia on Monday.
Parrott might have scored four goals in three matches – including a hat-trick against the Faroe Islands – in qualifying, but he will be coming up against the likes of Juventus and Manchester United this month, rather than trying to help Ireland secure their first ever piece of silverware at Under-19 level.
He will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Oliver Skipp, Luke Amos, George Marsh and TJ Enyoma, who all attended the clubs pre-season tour of the USA before the start of the 2018/2019 campaign and then all went on to make their senior competitive debuts later than season.
The Premier League Panini Tabloid is a special commemorative newspaper sticker collection celebrating the exciting new partnership between the greatest league in the world and the legendary name in football publishing, Panini.
This is the perfect time to be giving this young man his 1st team chance; should be taken on the pre season trip and played in some minor games(Carabao Cup) and brought on as substitute in Premier League matches( could also start some).
If you are good enough, you are old enough.
We will soon see if he has what it takes to make it to the top.
