Tottenham are set to revive their interest in signing Real Betis star Giovani Lo Celso, according to the Mirror.
Earlier this month, negotiations between Spurs and Betis reportedly stalled after the Londoners’ initial bid was turned down.
But the Mirror claims Lo Celso is keen to play Champions League football under his countryman Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham.
A release clause of £88 million has been mentioned in the past, but the Mirror believes Betis now value Lo Celso at around £70 million.
With that in mind, it looks like Spurs will have to break their transfer record for the second time in a matter of weeks to sign Lo Celso.
The 23-year-old scored 16 goals across all competitions last season, convincing Betis to make their loan deal with PSG permanent.
Betis now look likely to cash in on Lo Celso and the Liga Liga club is apparently close to signing Lyon captain Nabil Fekir as a replacement.
It’s difficult to understand how Tottenham will be able to afford Lo Celso unless Christian Eriksen is sold – the Dane has travelled with his teammates for the pre-season tour of Asia.
