Tottenham have ended their interest in signing Barcelona and Brazilian midfielder Phillipe Coutinho.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side were reportedly keen on bringing the ex-Liverpool man to North London on a season-long loan deal, but Coutinho, who has also been linked with Spurs’ rivals Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United, has rejected a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

However, the Spanish giants were demanding an unappealing £25m loan fee Coutinho – and Spurs, who don’t usually operate with loan deals, already turning down a deal to sign Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos for the season, it was a move that never really looked like getting over the line, especially after Manchester United pulled out of signing Christian Eriksen.

Spurs are now set to prioritise deals for Real Betis’ Giovani Lo Celso and Juventus star Paulo Dybala with just over 24 hours left until the transfer window slams shut.

  1. I’ll believe it when they’re done deal! Gutted Coutinho is not coming, I couldn’t sleep last night as I was that excited about the possibility of a dream Dybala, Kane, son, Ali, Coutinho, Sessegnon imagine that on our team sheets against anyone with our back 4 and Ndombele in the middle.

  2. its a game Levy plays every window he goes in for the big guns and we all get soppy with that then it all turns to shit happens every season he is such an arsehole dont get fooled again

  3. To spend £25 – £28 million on a loan deal is ludicrous.I believe this is without his wages. Courtino also says he does not want to return to England and would prefer fighting for a place in Barca’s team.
