Inter Milan forward and one-time Tottenham target Ivan Perisic is set to join Bayern Munich, according to Sky Sports.

Perisic has been linked with Spurs a number of times in the past. The Croatian, who scored in the World Cup final against France last year, almost signed for Manchester United in the summer of 2017 and was tipped to join Arsenal as recently as January.

But in March, reports suggested Tottenham were willing to pay £20 million for Perisic, although Inter were apparently demanding £30 million at the time. The Londoners were not linked the 30-year-old again in the summer, instead opting to sign Tanguy Ndombele, Jack Clarke, Ryan Sessegnon and Giovani Lo Celso.

And according to Sky Sports in Italy, Perisic is now on his way to Bayern, who have in turn given up their pursuit of Manchester City’s Leroy Sane. The 23-year-old will be sidelined for the next few months with a knee injury, so Bayern have turned to a more experience alternative in Perisic.

Spurs won’t exactly feel like they have missed out. Mauricio Pochettino has plenty of options in attack, and next summer Clarke will be competing for a place in the first-team as the club continues to put faith in youth.
