Tottenham have the option to recall Jack Clarke from his loan at Leeds United in January, according to Football Insider.

Clarke, who joined joined Spurs for £10 million earlier this summer, is yet to appear for Leeds in the Championship since returning to Elland Road on a season-long loan. Clubs in the second tier of English football are only allowed to include five loan players in their matchday squads, and Clarke has been the unfortunate player to regularly miss out so far this term.

If the situation continues, Tottenham may become concerned with Clarke’s development – or lack thereof – back at Leeds. Football Insider claims Spurs are able to recall the 18-year-old in January if they feel he is not playing as often as he should be in the Championship.

Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa has suggested Clarke’s game time is likely to improve in the future. He said (via Football London): “For me he’s an important player who has very good individual skills, one vs one.

“There are reasons enough to say nothing is special about why he is not in the 18 players in the last two games.

“We have a lot of matches in the month of August. Very probably the next game on Tuesday a lot of players who didn’t play before will be in the squad.

“In this moment I am focusing three wingers. They are putting in good performances, but Clarke will be in or be a substitute of one of them. Jordan Stevens is another option.”

Regardless of Bielsa’s comments, Clarke’s lack of minutes will worry Tottenham if there isn’t an increase by January. With that in mind, there is a chance the teenager will play for Spurs by the end of the season if he is recalled.
