AC Milan have increased their efforts to sign Tottenham defender Serge Aurier before the European transfer window closes, according to reports in France.
Aurier is yet to feature for Spurs this season having returned from the Africa Cup of Nations with a wrist injury. Despite the departure of Kieran Trippier, who Aurier competed with for the right-back spot last season, the Ivorian’s future is in doubt with Kyle Walker-Peter seemingly having earned Mauricio Pochettino’s trust.
Young centre-back Juan Foyth was also used on the right of a back four during pre-season, meaning Aurier could have even more competition for his place if he decides to stay. The European transfer deadline is in a few days time, and it looks like Milan are keen to get a deal done.
French outlet Soccer Link – as relayed by Football Italia – claims talks between Tottenham and Milan have ‘accelerated’ in recent days, although Spurs are apparently demanding €25 million for Aurier, which is close to the fee the Londoners bought him for from Paris Saint-Germain two years ago.
It’s unclear whether Tottenham will lower their demands if Milan are not willing to meet them. In any case, it could be a busy few days for Spurs and Aurier.
