Bruno Fernandes could leave Sporting Lisbon in January despite the Portuguese club turning down two offers from Tottenham in the summer, according to reports in Portugal.

Earlier this week, Sporting president Frederico Varandas revealed he had rejected a bid of €45 million plus €20 million in bonuses from Spurs. Those bonuses were reliant on the Londoners winning the Premier League and the Champions League.

He said: “Tottenham’s was 45 million euros plus 20 million in bonuses – winning the Premier League and the Champions League. Finding these goals difficult, I understood not to accept.”

Portuguese outlet Record (as relayed by Sport Witness) claims Tottenham made a second offer of €60 million plus €10 million bonuses, but that was also turned down by Sporting.

Subsequently, O Jogo (again relayed by Sport Witness) believes Sporting will now offer Fernandes a new contract. However, it is thought they are unwilling to offer him more than Spurs can put on the table.

And as a result, the 24-year-old could apparently look to leave Sporting in the January transfer window or next summer. Tottenham might face competition from Manchester United and Real Madrid, who were also heavily linked with Fernandes over the summer.
