Ryan Sessegnon’s Tottenham debut could be delayed after the summer signing from Fulham suffered an injury setback.
The 19-year-old was assessed for Spurs’ victory against Crystal Palace on Saturday after he resumed first-team training last week – although he didn’t end up making the 18-man squad – but has been complaining of irritation in the hamstring that he injured whilst away with England Under-21s earlier in the summer.
Sessegnon hasn’t travelled to Greece for Tottenham’s Champions League game against Olympiacos tomorrow and now looks extremely unlikely to face Leicester on Saturday.
And although an appearance in Athens would have been unlikely, it’s a blow for the former Fulham man, who would have undoubtedly been targeting a first Spurs appearance in their Carabao Cup 3rd Round tie against League Two side Colchester United next Tuesday.
Tottenham confirmed the news ahead of Mauricio Pochettino’s pre-match press conference in the Greek capital, but didn’t specify the length of Sessegnon’s issue.
