Tottenham squandered a two-goal lead as they drew with Olympiacos in their Group B opener in the Champions League.
Two goals in four minutes from Harry Kane and Lucas Moura put Spurs 2-0 in front, but a goal either side of the break from Daniel Podence and then a penalty from former Lyon attacking midfielder Mathieu Valbuena earned the Greek side a point in Athens.
Hugo Lloris, 6 – Had barely anything to do all evening and got away with flapping at a late cross.
Davinson Sanchez, 3 – Despite his performance in the North London derby, the Colombian got another opportunity to impress at right-back – and he did anything but.
Toby Alderweireld, 5 – His passing range wasn’t as accurate as against Crystal Palace, but was by far the best of the defenders.
Jan Vertonghen, 4 – A poor night for Belgian, who conceded a penalty for an unnecessary challenge.
Ben Davies, 5 – Started the game really well and provided the assist for Lucas’ goal, but faded and was caught out of position for Olympiacos’ first.
Harry Winks, 7 – By far Tottenham’s best player on the night. Tidy in possession and his work-rate was non stop.
Tanguy Ndombele, 4 – Tottenham’s record-signing had a night to forget.
Christian Eriksen, 3 – Couldn’t get anything going and was extremely lucky to have stayed on the pitch for 90 minutes.
Lucas Moura, 6 – A quiet night, but lit up the first-half with another moment of magic in the Champions League as he wonderfully made it 2-0.
Dele Alli, 2 – His first start of the campaign and it showed. Incredibly slow and should have passed to Kane when he went alone and shot instead.
Harry Kane, 4 – Stuck away the penalty, but fed off scraps. Missed a half-chance in the second-half, heading over from close-range.
Substitutes:
Moussa Sissoko, 5 – An uncharacteristically sloppy performance from one of Tottenham’s most consistent players in 2019.
Heung Min Son 5, – Couldn’t get involved besides one late run.
Erik Lamela, 5 – Looked to make things happen and got into some good positions, but should have squared for Kane late on when he opted to shoot.
How did Eriksen get more than a 1.
What score did Poch get, Never has a plan B, Never subs till 60 mins, Nice guy but not a winner !
Eriksen shouldn’t even get a 1
Pochettino really is a clown; you should not play someone out of position or an out of form player.
Am beginning to understand why Eriksen wants out(nothing to do with money): he realises that at Spurs with the present set up, we will never win anything other than te Audi Cup.
I don’t get it, rotation is not for the champions League. Play your best first team them make the adjustment in EPL. Droping point in CL with only 3 games is not a chance you take to appease your squad. Tanguy was never ready and lucas and Son should partner kane up front. First in a long time the Manager went to the bench early, but Alli should be the one to go for Lamela and Son for Tanguy double switch. And since he is in love with 3 at the back, it was perfect to put Sanchez inside and allow Toby out wide to hit those long balls over the top. I think the manager is reading his own clippings too often now. He is void of in game tactics.
Poch never plays hes best 11 in any cup games thats why i dont do cup ties anymore wast of time and money
Dele Alli looks fat, unfit and slow….should never have started.
Eriksen worst performance for Tottenham why was he not substituted it would have done him a favour.Let him go to Real only consolation is they are worst than we are.Sanchez no idea how to play left back rubbish please use your bench Poch you are as bad as your team.Tottenham need new scouting system we are buying invalids nobody else wants them.
Thought Posh needs to give the youngsters a blooding and register them early Was it the heat ? They were faster and had better ball control than us … all previous comments agreed with … something needs to change … immediately.. IMO
