Fernando Llorente continued his near-perfect first week as a Napoli player by scoring twice in their victory against Lecce this afternoon.
The former Tottenham front-man, who joined the Serie A giants earlier this month after he decided against signing a new contract at Spurs, claimed an assist on debut against Sampdoria last Saturday before coming off the bench to seal three points in their Champions League opener against Liverpool this week.
And the Spaniard was up to his old tricks this Sunday lunchtime as he marked his first start for his new club by bagging a brace in their 4-1 victory. His first was a neat finish after pouncing on a loose ball before Llorente sealed the win with an 82nd minute tap-in.
With Tottenham struggling to score many goals themselves, fans have been reacting to Llorente’s purple patch on Twitter.
One fan said “Lack a plan B without him. When our game didn’t use to work we would go 4-4-2 and just get the ball in the air, route one – its ugly but it certainly worked with Llorente & Kane, whilst another said should have kept him. The first Plan B we’d had in years and we let him go.”
You can see his two goals in the videos below.
34. Slow as shit, mobility of a donkey.
But ALWAYS in the right place at the right time and causes danger. Llorente’s still got goals in him. pic.twitter.com/SDiXYacn36
