Tottenham are interested in signing Fiorentina starlet Riccardo Sottil, according to the Daily Express.

Sottil, a 20-year-old winger, spent last season on loan in the Italian second division with Pescara. He has now returned to Fiorentina and has made three appearances across all competitions so far this season.

He made his debut for Italy’s Under-21s earlier this month, scoring in one of his two outings at that level for his country. And it appears his performances have not gone unnoticed.

The Express claims Spurs sent scouts to watch Sottil play against Atalanta in Serie A on Sunday. However, the youngster didn’t make it off the bench as Fiorentina threw away a two goal lead late on to draw 2-2.

Sottil may have been given a chance had Fiorentina not been holding on for a result in the final few minutes. They ended up conceding in the 84th minute and again deep into stoppage time.

Tottenham aren’t desperate for new attacking wide players. Lucas Moura is struggling for game time, which tells you everything you need to know about the depth Mauricio Pochettino possesses in those areas.

That said, the club always has one eye on the future and Sottil may be the kind of high-potential forward Spurs need in order to increase competition for places.
