Ironically, the worse Tottenham’s form gets, the more some of Europe’s biggest clubs are linked with Mauricio Pochettino.
It makes sense to a certain extent. Pochettino is clearly one of the continent’s leading managers, but there is a feeling he has hit a glass ceiling at Spurs and now needs to leave in order to win trophies elsewhere.
According to the Sun, Manchester United are readying a move for the Argentinian, who apparently has a £32 million release clause in his Tottenham contract.
Of course, it’s best to take everything the Sun writes with a pinch of salt. But it wouldn’t exactly be a surprise if United were genuinely interested in Pochettino given what he has achieved at Spurs with a modest budget.
The Sun also believes Real Madrid have made an official approach for Pochettino in the past while Chelsea are said to have made an unofficial move for the 47-year-old.
Tottenham would likely do everything possible to stop Pochettino joining Chelsea given the bad relations and rivalry between the two clubs. That said, the Sun claims Spurs and Manchester United also aren’t on the best of terms because of difficult past dealings.

I think it all depends on Poch.
I would say the great majority of Spurs fans would want him to stay, and I’m
guessing that all the squad (apart from one or two individuals whose cards are
marked) do as well. Levy, also, surely sees Poch as his long term manager, especially
with him getting so close to the Holy Grail last season.
We’ve had 5 fantastic football playing years, although, yes, we’ve fallen frustratingly
short on the trophy front. Injuries and absences at critical times haven’t helped, and
we made the double mistake of letting both our world class right backs leave.
Look. We’re still dusting off the newness of the New Lane, and we’re trying to
eliminate the uncertainty of the Eriksen situation, in particular, along with Rose, Toby and Verts.
We’ve yet to see the development of Ndombele, Lo Celso and Sessegnon, but I’m sure
they’ll be great assets. If we can get Dybala in January, plus a top class right back, it will
restore our squad to the level where we can beat anyone.
I don’t think Poch will go to Real Madhouse, or United/Chelsea et al. He knows where he’s
better off, surely ..at the club with arguably the best ground and best training facilities anywhere,
and a squad to finally start nailing trophies for our old famous club again.
With a Chairman trying to assist him in every way, and the growing reputation of Spurs on the
world wide stage, he’d be crazy to leave all that and jump into the unknown.
But then, it all depends on him!
