Jamie Redknapp said that Tottenham must get Giovani Lo Celso back to fit as quickly as possible because they’re currently lacking creativity.

Lo Celso, who made the switch to the Premier League on transfer deadline day from La Liga side Real Betis, has made just three substitute appearances for Spurs before he suffered a hip problem whilst playing for Argentina and isn’t expected to return until November time.

And with the usually reliable Christian Eriksen out of the side and massively out of form, Mauricio Pochettino has been forced to change the formation at times this season, opting for a 4-3-3 with another one of Tottenham’s summer signings Tanguy Ndombele, who impressed against Bayern Munich, forced to play in a more advanced attacking-midfield role.

Tottenham’s 14 Premier League goals this season is only bettered by Manchester City and Liverpool, who have scored 27 and 18 respectively, but Redknapp thinks Spurs are lacking a spark.

“One thing they are missing is creativity. Unless Christian Eriksen is playing, you really wonder where their ability to unlock defences is going to come from,” the former Tottenham and Liverpool midfielder told the Daily Mail.

“Giovani Lo Celso, who joined this summer on loan from Real Betis, was supposed to help Eriksen with the creative burden and they need the Argentine back from his hip injury as soon as possible.

“When you need to unlock teams, you need that player who can do something special.”
