Mauricio Pochettino didn’t confirm on deny whether Spurs winger Jack Clarke will be returning from his loan spell at Leeds United in January.
The 18-year-old, who joined from the West Yorkshire outfit in July before being immediately loaned back to Elland Road, hasn’t played a single minute of Championship action this term with his two Leeds appearances both coming in the Carabao Cup.
Clarke’s situation has not been helped by the fact that under EFL ruling, you’re only allowed a maximum of five loan players in a matchday squad and Leeds currently have six players on loan, meaning the teenager has spent the majority of his season player for the U23s.
His lack of opportunities has naturally led to talks about him cutting short his loan spell at Leeds and returning to Spurs during the January transfer window.
Pochettino had his say on the matter during his press conference this afternoon. He said: “Jack Clarke is at Leeds now. He is playing for Leeds. He is our player but he is on loan. Of course, if you say to me today about Jack Clarke, I don’t know because today he has not got a place to come with us. What is going to happen in a few months, I don’t know,” said the Spurs boss.”
“You know we have the people to look after Jack Clarke. We have the structure to look after him. I cannot think too much about Jack Clarke.
“Of course I have all the reports every week but I cannot be focusing on what is going to happen with him in January. I need to be trying to help my players and the team today because we need to win on Saturday and on Tuesday. It is wasting time, with all my respect to Jack Clarke.”
What are Spurs expecting from Jack ?
He has the potential to be top class but at present he is a championship sub at best.
Leeds were always going to accept him back when offered but should they play him simply to help Tottenham?
Given a chance hes got potential to be a great advantage to someone without doubt and I dont believe that he is being given that his impressive ability is just going to waste surely some one needs a talent such as that
