Manchester United should pursue deals for Heung-Min Son and Harry Kane, according to Gary Neville and Roy Keane.
The pair of former Manchester United players were on punditry duty during their ex-club’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool on Sky Sports yesterday. After the game, the topic of conversation concerned what United need to improve.
Neville spoke about United’s need for a “mobile striker” and identified Son as an ideal candidate to come into the team.
“Liverpool play with three mobile strikers, Firmino doesn’t score 25 goals every year, but he does an unbelievable job,” he said (as relayed by HITC). “I love him to bits, but he doesn’t score 25 goals. You can still win without a striker who scores 25-30 goals.
“I’d like Firmino, he doesn’t score 25 goals, I’d like Firmino at Manchester United. I’d like Son from Tottenham. I think United want a striker like Firmino, like Son at Tottenham, that type of player, I don’t think he wants a typical striker.”
The pundits then spoke about the lack of goals in the team, particularly from Marcus Rashford, despite the fact he opened the scoring on Sunday. During a debate between Neville and Graeme Souness, Roy Keane interrupted with: “Go and get Kane.”
He added: “Just go and get Kane from Spurs. Easy. Just go and get him. What are you all staring at? He scores 20 goals a season with his eyes shut. They’re in disarray, go and get him.”
Keane seems to think it would be simple for United to take Kane from Tottenham, but it would likely take a world record fee for Daniel Levy to even consider parting ways with one of his biggest assets.
Son would also command a huge price right now given his improvement over the last couple of years and his market value to the Londoners, but Spurs will be made to sweat over keeping their best players if they fail to qualify for the Champions Leauge this season.
That is why ManU is where they are
There are no magic in the shirt and uppity like Keane is part of football problem. “Go get him” what an insult. When parity begins based on other clubs investment in their personel the bigs spend more on imports for fear of being taken.
Keane, lives in the past, why does he think anyone would want To go Man Utd to play Europa league, they are not the attractive option they once were.
Spurs have a state of the Art Stadium and training facilities, sorry Man U ?
