Mauricio Pochettino has thanked the Tottenham fans for their support – admitting he felt the love from them against Red Star on Tuesday night.
Spurs returned to winning ways – picking up just their fourth victory in all competitions this season – with a comfortable 5-0 winning against the Serbian outfit to move up to second in Group B ahead of their meeting in Belgrade in a fortnight.
Harry Kane got the ball rolling in the 9th minute before Heung Min Son bagged a first-half brace to result beyond doubt. The Spurs onslaught continued after the break thanks to Erik Lamela’s first Champions League goal for over a year on his 200th appearance for the club.
Kane finished the rout late on with another clinical finish to take his impressive Champions League record to 18 goals in 22 matches.
It was Spurs’ lowest ever attendance (51,743) at their new stadium, but the fans that did turn up showed plenty of support for their under-fire manager.
Pochettino was asked about them in his post-match press conference, and said: “The fans are fantastic and I heard their support. I say thank you, the love is both ways. I feel that they love me and they need to feel that I love them too.”
