Tottenham’s horrendous form on the road continued as they were beaten 2-1 by Liverpool in the Premier League.
Harry Kane’s early goal gave Spurs hope of recording their first away league victory since January, but second-half goals from Jordan Henderson and a Mohammed Salah penalty earned the reds maximum points.
Here’s how every Spurs player rated on the day.
Paulo Gazzaniga, 9 – Had it not been for the Argentine’s heroic display – in which he made 12 saves – the margin of Spurs’ defeat could have been far greater.
Serge Aurier, 3 – His performance and perhaps entire Tottenham career was summed up in one clumsy moment as he initially produced a fine tackle on Sadio Mane, before inexplicably conceding a penalty on the Liverpool winger.
Davinson Sanchez, 7 – Continued where he left off against Red Star Belgrade in midweek with what was another assured display from the Colombian.
Toby Alderweireld, 7 – Recalled to the side and did exactly what was required of him.
Danny Rose, 4 – Another poor showing from the left-back, who got caught out of position for Henderson’s equaliser before getting booked which means he’ll miss next Sunday’s trip to Everton.
Harry Winks, 6 – Had a strong first-half, but suffered with Spurs’ lack of the ball in the second.
Moussa Sissoko, 7 – Energetic throughout and made a lung-busting run which carved Liverpool apart and led to Kane’s opener.
Dele Alli, 5 – Disappointing from start to finish.
Christian Eriksen, 4– Another hopeless performance from a player that simply looks like he no longer wants to play for the football club.
Son Heung-min, 6 – Always looked a threat with the ball at his feet. Created the opener by striking the crossbar, but should have doubled Tottenham’s lead early in the second period, but was denied by the woodwork after rounding Alisson.
Harry Kane, 7 – Continued his excellent goalscoring record at Anfield by neatly heading home his fourth goal in six visits to break the deadlock inside the opening minute.
Substitutes:
Tanguy Ndombele 7, – Came off the bench and was extremely bright.
Lucas Moura N/A – Should have come on earlier or even started – not enough time to make an impact as his frustrating campaign continues.
Giovani Lo Celso, N/A – Like Moura, introduced too late.
Pocc’s continued choice of Aurier,Rose and Eriksen is beyond comprehension.I don’t believe there is a single Spurs Fan who would pick either of these players.
He should do the honourable thing and resign forthwith.
When Leicester beat us to the title it felt like every club was for them and against us. Having spent a year or so stumbling Leicester are back. We looked like we were moving forward but the truth is it was us who were stumbling. We stumbled our way to fourth last year and the CL final but the truth be told we were falling not stumbling it’s just starting to show now. We have been falling for a year but now teams have worked us out and our great manager has not a clue which is evident in the fact he continues to pick players no spurs fan would. Its rotten to the core at spurs from the chairman, the board, the manager and some of the team. The sorry thing is its us fans who have to pay while they make more millions and we are the only ones who truly care.
I agree whole heartedly, how can Eriksen continue to play and contribute nothing. Perhaps he should take Alli with him and start playing the youngsters who would be frustrated as the supposed big boys show nothing time and again.
I totally agree with all the above comments…Poch as a tactician is awful…we played 5 across the pitch yesterday but both Liverpool’s full backs were there most dangerous players….asking Eriksen and Son to do a defensive job was suicidal…every Spurs fan after 47secs knew that Liverpool would win the game…some of Spurs players and management need to take a leaf out of the England rugby union teams book for effort desire commitment work rate and honesty to the fans….I could go on but I already feel a migraine coming on.
Please. Could these reports be given to Posch and Levy ? We vent anger and frustration ! The chairman of the supporters club needs immediate action !!!!!!!
He change the system, good, but played offense with same stupid philosophy. Alli should have been pulled at half time for Tanguy, yet he ended up playing all 90. We down 1 in the 74th minute and our final sub was at the 87th minite mark. I never see anyone that could not be pulled for Moura and Gio. Only Poch could have a player like Tanguy deliver is best game on Tuesday and have 5 days rest and sat the player. I personally felt bad for Aurier conceding that penaly cause he made a heck of a effort to get back with our hapless back line once again getting beaten by one pass over the top. Take a look at this useless system and tell me Trippier was the cause for our demised. We played without any wide player and Liverpool 2 wingbacks were literally standing on our 18yrds box.
We need two top quality backs. I know nowadays they are supposed to go forward and provide crosses etc, but I would prioritise two backs who can actually defend without frequent fouls.
