Danny Rose will miss Tottenham’s Premier League game against Everton on Sunday through suspension.

The left-back, who has been poor for Spurs this season, picked up his fifth booking of the campaign in the defeat at Liverpool on Sunday and will therefore serve a one-match ban.

In previous years, this type of news would have been a mini-disaster for Mauricio Pochettino, but Rose’s form has nothing short of appalling in 2019/2020 and will consider himself extremely fortunate not to have already been dropped from the starting XI already.

Ben Davies, who impressed in the Champions League victory over Red Star Belgrade last Tuesday, is expected to step up in his place and earn just his second league start this term.

Rose’s absence also means that there will a chance for another defender to step up and be named on the bench. It could even serve as an opportunity for Ryan Sessegnon, although Juan Foyth, who was left out of the squad at Anfield, is likely to fill the void left by him.
