Mauricio Pochettino said it’s down to the club whether Heung Min Son’s red card against Everton will be appealed.
The South Korean international was sent off for the second time in the Premier League in 2019 for a nasty tackle on Andre Gomes in Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Goodison Park.
However, replays showed that it was Serge Aurier’s awful challenge that followed that caused the damage to the Blues midfielder and Son was perhaps unfortunate to be given his marching orders by Martin Atkinson, who initially showed the Spurs man a yellow card.
Pochettino was asked whether Tottenham will appeal the red card, in his post-match press conference after the game. He said: “I don’t know what will happen.
“The club will see if it’s possible or not. We cannot change what can happen after.”
If Spurs do appeal and it comes back unsuccessful, Son will miss Saturday’s game against Sheffield United, West Ham away on 23 November and Bournemouth at home the following Saturday.
However, Son is still available for the Champions League game against Red Star Belgrade on Wednesday and will still be expected to travel to Serbia with the rest of the squad.
