Real Madrid might be willing to offer James Rodriguez to Tottenham in exchange for Christian Eriksen in January, according to reports in Spain.

Eriksen was heavily linked with Real in the summer but a move failed to materialise. The Dane has entered the final year of his contract and will almost certainly leave Spurs either for a fee in January or on a free transfer next summer.

Meanwhile, Rodriguez’s career is also in limbo. The Colombian has failed to work his way back into Zinedine Zidane’s plans since returning for a loan spell with Bayern Munich. Along with Gareth Bale, he is said to be unwanted by the Madrid manager.

And according to Spanish outlet El Desmarque, Real president Florentino Perez plans to use Rodriguez to sign one of Eriksen, Manchester United’s Paul Pogba or Wolves’ Ruben Neves.

The report claims Tottenham will ‘practically give away’ Eriksen if they get at least something in return, but whether the Londoners are keen to sign Rodriguez is unknown. It’s likely he is on massive wages, and Mauricio Pochettino may prefer other options.

    • Click bait. Why would any club that has interest pay a fee or swap a player of value for CE? It just dont make any sense. They should have ask him to sign a 2 year contract otherwise let him go. Levy just Stiff PSG out of $20M by taking Celso on loan. All Spurs nation are bravo for Levy. Now it is our turn with CE let him go.

  1. On this season’s showing he’d be lucky if Bolton are interested in him. He’ll go for a free in the summer or for EssexSpur’ beans at best in January.
