Danny Rose has revealed that he is planning on staying at Tottenham until his current contract expires at the end of the 2020/2021 campaign.

The 29-year-old defender was the subject of interest from Watford on transfer deadline day and looked almost certain to leave after he was left out of Spurs’ pre-season tour of the Far East back in July – with club releasing a statement saying “Danny Rose have been granted additional time off in order to explore prospective opportunities with other clubs.”

But Rose remained at the club and despite his dip in form has been Tottenham’s first-choice left-back this season and has already started 11 games in all competitions this term.

Speaking ahead of England’s EURO 2020 qualifier against Montenegro at Wembley on Thursday, Rose has rubbished the claims that there were bids on the table for him during the summer window.

“It’s pretty obvious what happened [in the summer],” Rose admitted in an exclusive interview with the Evening Standard. “People upstairs at Tottenham were trying to do what they were trying to do. I’ve said [to them] I’ve got 18 months left on my contract and I’m not going anywhere until my contract has finished.

“In January, you’re probably going to hear something [about my future]. I’m telling you right now that I’m not going anywhere until my contract is finished.

“Daniel Levy told me in the summer there was no new contract for me at Tottenham, which is fine. I respect that. We move on.

“My contract is up in 18 months’ time and I’ll leave the football club then. People [in the media] can save their time trying to get stuff ready for January about me being sold.

“Because I can tell you now, it ain’t happening. I know what people were trying to do in the summer, there were no bids — that was rubbish.”

Despite the speculation, Rose still has a strong relationship with Mauricio Pochettino.

“When the manager stops calling me into his office, stops giving me advice, that’s when I’ll think it’s time to leave Tottenham.

“But until then, I’m not going anywhere. I’m lucky to have a manager at Tottenham who, from the first day we met, has always stuck by me, regardless of anything, regardless of the rubbish in the media about me being sold or not part of his plans — all that nonsense.”

“It can happen throughout your career and it’s happening right now to me. The manager has done everything possible to help me get back to how I was playing last season. Obviously I’m raring to go and I’m up for the challenge.”

  1. nice one Rose dont let those Enic bastards get you down your still the best wing-back at the club go for free stop those bastards making a penny from you leaving

  2. Rose is being slaughtered for his attitude but it is totally different to the situation with Eriksen,Alderwereild and possibly Vertonghen.
As I understand, Rose would like to be offered a new contract, whilst Eriksen,Alderwereild and possibly Vertonghen have been offered new ones which they are not interested in in any form.
I really don’t understand the situation with Rose.Granted he has been poor this season like most of his team mates, is injury prone, has had some bad and lengthy injuries, and has on occasions spoken out of line(never mind that he was telling the truth),but over the years he has been outstanding and one of the best left wing backs in the Premiership.
I believe the offer of some sort of new contract should be on the table. Why does the club want to get rid?
