Dele Alli continued his excellent revival under Jose Mourinho by scoring twice in Tottenham’s 3-2 victory over AFC Bournemouth on Saturday.
The 23-year-old midfielder, who endured a difficult 18 months under Mauricio Pochettino, has looked back to his best since Mourinho replaced the Argentine almost two weeks ago.
Alli was excellent against West Ham last weekend before contributing a goal and an assist against Olympiacos on Tuesday as Spurs reached the knockout stages of the Champions League for the third consecutive season.
But the Tottenham midfielder produced perhaps his best performance of the campaign against the Cherries – scoring twice in a Premier League game for the first time since that famous 3-1 victory at Stamford Bridge in April 2018 to help move Spurs up to 5th in the Premier League standings and cut fourth-place Chelsea’s gap to just four points.
Alli has always been a popular figure with the Tottenham faithful and despite a run of poor form, they have stuck by him as shown by the support he received on social media after his two-goal performance against Bournemouth.
