Manchester United will attempt to sign Christian Eriksen in January despite the Tottenham start turning them down in the summer, according to the Mirror.
Eriksen has just a few months left on his contract and is expected to leave Spurs after admitting he wants a new challenge at the end of last season. A move to Real Madrid failed to materialise in the summer, but a January exit is seemingly on the cards.
The Dane has been used intermittently by new Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho. He came off the bench and changed the game in the comeback victory over Olympiacos in the Champions League but has failed to influence the other matches he’s appeared in.
And the Mirror is now claiming United will make another attempt to sign Eriksen in January. The 27-year-old apparently had his heart set on a transfer to Madrid in the summer, so it is believed he turned down the Red Devils.
But the Mirror suggests United ‘hope to persuade’ Eriksen to move to Old Trafford in the winter window. It remains unclear whether Spurs are willing to allow him to join a Premier League rival – we think it’s unlikely.
