Tottenham forward Heung Min Son will miss the entire Christmas and New Year period after the red card he received in the 2-0 defeat to Chelsea on Sunday was upheld by the Football Association.

The South Korean, who has now been sent off three times in 2019 – more than any other player in the Premier League – was given his marching orders by Anthony Taylor after the Video Assistant Referee had adjudged the Spurs man to have kicked Chelsea defender Toni Rudiger in the chest just past the hour-mark.

Tottenham appealed the decision, but it was rejected today and therefore Son will be suspended for the Boxing Day trip against Brighton & Hove Albion at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Son will also miss the trips to newly-promoted Norwich City on Saturday evening and then the New Year’s Day visit to Southampton – meaning the next time the Korean could feature for Spurs is against Championship side Middlesbrough in the FA Cup on 5 January.
