A number of Tottenham fans have taken to social media to praise defender Japhet Tanganga for his impressive Premier League debut in the 1-0 defeat against Liverpool on Saturday.
The 20-year-old, whose only other senior appearance for Spurs came in September’s Carabao Cup defeat at Colchester United, was a surprise inclusion in Jose Mourinho’s starting XI against the league leaders, but wasted no time in making an immediate impact by making a crucial goal-line block from Roberto Firmino inside the opening five minutes.
You can see that superb piece of defending in the video below.
What a start from Tottenham Hotspur debutant Japhet Tanganga, saving Spurs with a block in front of goal after Firmino beat Gazzaniga with his shot.

Tanganga started on the left side of a back three next to Davinson Sanchez and Toby Alderweireld and despite his inexperience, looked extremely composed and as you can see in some of the tweets below, some fans want to see more of the England Under-20 man.
Have a look at some of the best responses.
The only positive today was his performance. One for the future ?

Such great attitude. Couldn’t have done any more today. Should hold his head high regardless of the result. Just gotta get him that new contract
