The expected deal that will take Tottenham star Christian Eriksen to Inter Milan could see Matias Vecino move in the opposite direction, according to reports in Italy.
Eriksen, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has been strongly linked with Inter in recent days. On Thursday, trusted Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed Eriksen’s agent, Martin Schoots, met with Inter again and a deal is said to be getting closer.
In other words, it looks like Eriksen will be moving to the San Siro for a fee this month rather than joining Inter on a free transfer in the summer.
And now, Italian reporter Alfredo Pedulla claims Inter midfielder Vecina could move to Spurs, either as part of or separate from the Eriksen deal. Vecina has apparently ‘said yes’ to Tottenham already, so it could simply be a case of the two clubs agreeing a fee, or perhaps lowering the Eriksen fee.
Vecina, a 28-year-old Uruguay international, has scored three goals in 17 appearances across all competitions so far this season. He’d certainly be a useful addition with Spurs currently running low on fit and available midfielders.
