Danny Rose and Jose Mourinho have been involved in a training ground bust-up after the left-back was left out of the Tottenham squad for their goalless draw with Watford in the Premier League on Saturday, according to the Daily Mail.
The 29-year-old, who had started the 1-0 defeat to Liverpool the previous week, was left aggrieved at being omitted from the matchday squad, although Mourinho suggested that Rose was injured.
He told Football.London after the draw at Vicarage Road: It’s the kind of game that Rose doesn’t need for his progression, he is already the player he is. And today he had a little injury in his back two days ago, and yesterday we made the decision to bring only fit players.”
Despite Mourinho’s claims about Rose’s fitness, the defender believed he was fit enough to feature against the Hornets and the report suggests that he clashed with the Portuguese in Sunday’s warm-down session at Hotspur Way – with voices raised and big tension in the air.
Some players were even thought to be unhappy with Rose’s behaviour and the way he reacted.
Rose did return to training on Monday morning, but now looks highly unlikely to play against Norwich City on Wednesday.
