Championship side Charlton Athletic have emerged as favourites to sign Tottenham striker Troy Parrott on loan, according to the Daily Mail.

The 17-year-old has been in excellent form for Spurs’ youth teams this season, but has made just two senior appearances – the Carabao Cup defeat at Colchester United at the end of September before Jose Mourinho handed the Republic of Ireland international his Premier League debut as a late substitute in the 5-0 victory over Burnley last month.

However, since featuring against the Clarets, Parrott hasn’t been given any minutes by Mourinho and has only been named on the bench a handful of times.

Parrott also made his first appearance for Ireland’s senior side in recent months and the Addicks are reportedly interested in bringing the teenager, who doesn’t turn 18 until February, to The Valley on loan for the remainder of the season.

Mourinho told Football.London recently that Parrott is going through a process and although he will get minutes, he won’t be trusted with the responsibility of replacing the injured Harry Kane.

It all means that Parrott could be loaned out in January – with Lee Bowyer’s men one of a host of second-tier sides keen on signing the striker.
